Yesterday we had the opportunity to go out on a date with our good friends and neighbors, Gary and Sharon Dial. They buy season tickets to a Theater playhouse and always buy an extra set so that they can invite some friends to go with them. Very generous!! This time they had two extra sets and also invited the Mathesen's, Shane and Danielle. The playhouse is in Salt Lake City so we had to leave at 1:00 to get there on time but before we hit the 6:00 show, we stopped at a restaurant that I can only describe as Divine and very much worth the hype the it gets! The place was called Maddox and it was wonderful food!
We were able to get a special where you got a prime rib dinner and dessert for only $15.00. That is a great price and it tasted so good too and they gave you soup or salad and endless rolls with their famous raspberry butter. It was delicious!!
Front to back: Me, Jared, Shane, Sharon, Danielle, and Gary
When we got to the playhouse we had to take advantage of these picture cutouts. Jared with his 3 eyes!
Then Gary jumped in Christine's face while Sharon was the Phantom, Gary's look just makes me giggle!
Our tickets, plus they place you at tables so that you can order food during the show. The popcorn was complimentary though!
We were second row from the front, a great spot to sit.
Left to right: Me, Jared, Gary, Sharon, Danielle, and Shane
Jared trying to be miserable, while Gary is just being weird!
Jared ended up sitting in just the right spot to be pulled up on stage. He got to decide how Jean Val jean ( Pronounces like Gene like the pants, this was a comedy or melodrama) died in which he chose the guillotine but the actor guy said, "Good choice, the dart gun it is!" Then he marched Jared up on the stand and had him kill Jean Val jean It was such a witty comedy and definitely "LESS Miserable"! They even primed you before the show started by teaching you when they play certain music to boo at the actor or to cheer for the actor. Very interactive.
After the show is done they do shout outs for birthdays and then they asked if there were any other announcements and I said, "Aniversary!" They told me to not get ahead of myself. They finished birthdays and then segwayed into anniversaries. (I figured it was close enough!) They asked us our names and how long we had been married and then they sang a song for us and told us to get up and dance. We made a good show of it and did a dance like Jr. High kids (Super stiff arms on each others hips or shoulders and you make sure not to look at each other.) They ended up spot lighting us and then commending us on letting there be enough room for the Holy Ghost. Yes, we know how to ham it up!
The Desert Star Theater has these picture booths set up all along their hallway. This outhouse caught our eye.
So Jared thought he would take a.....rest here.
Ummm......ya......
It was such a fun night with great friends and great entertainment! And thank you so much Andrea and Nancy for watching our kids so that Jared and I could go on this fantastic Date!!
