Dinner with the Heath's

This year we have established the monthly family dinner. It is nice because there will be spurts where we see each other all the time and then 2 or 3 months where there is no contact. So, we decided to do family dinners. Actually, it started out with Byron and Jemayla asking if we all wanted to get together for FHE(Family Home Evening: A weekly Monday activity where we stay together as a family and learn more and our Savior and play games together and have treats. It is a great opportunity to slow life down and just enjoy being together as a family.) They thought it would be great to get the whole family together for this, but Jared and I thought that getting together on a Sunday for dinner would be better because then we don't have to worry as much about staying out late since it is a school night. We can meet together earlier in the day and just have fun together!

We had the blessing of Grandma Ann and Chuck joining us. I think that most of our conversation this time was on our parenting and how we react to our kids getting bullied, or their skills in basketball ( a very important sport to the Heath family, watching and playing.) and how we act when our kids wake up in the night from leg aches and bad dreams.

Of course Chad being a goof ball! Every time we are together we get in some sort of play fight. This time he told me to punch him as hard as I could in the arm. I was about to hit him when Byron quickly stopped me and told me to put my thumb on the outside of my fist. Then I hit him, he said it wasn't too bad for a girl. Then of course he punches me which result in me punching him, back and forth, back and forth, trying to catch the other off guard. I finally just punched him in the gut! A few years ago we ended up smacking each other around with his stinky sock in which I totally schooled him. (That is not an embellishment, true story, even ask Dez his wife!) We have great times together, big brother, pesky little sister! Chad always feels that he needs to prove his manhood by picking on kids that are littler than him. Eli wasn't scared though! He can hold his own.

Jordyn and Lilly are good friends. As soon as Jordyn can walk I think that they will have a very fun time together.

We rotate every month as to who hosts the dinner. It is definitely great to have family near by!

This and That!

Beware family, I finally passed on the Zilch after having it for over 5 years. I slipped it into Nancy's bridal shower gift. Watch out because you could be the next one to get it!Just a cute picture of Alexis and me. My friend was making this hat for her teenage daughter but it ended up being too small so she gave it to my girls and I think they look so cute in it! My adorable kids! I think this was St. Patty's day and so they are all wearing green.

Eli makes me laugh when I tell him to smile, he get's this kind of snear on his face. I think my kids are pretty dang cute!

Jared's Alternate Lifestyle RETURNS!

Yes, lady's and gentlemen, Jared is at it again. Dressing up like a girl once is one thing, but when he's doing it again, you start to wonder if he is beginning to enjoy it!

As you all know, Jared is a teacher. And when teachers bet their kids to do something, the bet better be worth something or the kids aren't going to try and achieve their goal. The bet this year was that the sixth graders had to meet their reading goals. Every week, if a certain amount of kids met their goal, then a vote could be put forth in choosing teachers to dress up like cheerleaders. Of course, Jared was picked first, thus making him the cheerleader captain. Three other men were chosen as well, but no woman were...conspiracy?

I called up the high school cheerleading coach and asked if she had any old cheerleader outfits that I could have. Barbie, yes that is her real name, told me that there was a whole box that I could choose from. I ended up getting six skirts, four for the men and two to cut and piece together to make the skirts big enough to fit these larger men. They turned out pretty good. Then, we bought plain white shirts and just painted them to match.

Here is Jared, trying on his outfit. Yes, those are black leggings he has on....yes, they are mine, I am not proud to admit that! I think the red soccer socks add a nice touch!

The male teachers had to dress up in their costumes and play basketball against the sixth graders. Any sixth grader who met their goals got to vote on who became a cheerleader, but they also got to play in the basketball game. There were about 10 three-minute quarters in which giddy little kids played their hearts out. Whenever the kids scored a basket, the gym became full of cheers.

This lady, Dawn Loyd, is a really fun person and was one of the refs. The refs were totally paid off by the sixth graders because every call went their way. She had a little fun teasing Jared about his skirt. A few good men...cheerleaders! The teachers played it pretty easy against the kids. Jared would just stand in the middle with his arms up. He got called for a lot of fouls. He had way more than 5 fouls but luckily they didn't bench him. However, he did get called for a technical foul and was sent to see the principal who sent him to the corner for a time out. The four male cheerleaders did a half time routine to the song, "I like to move it, move it." I have it on video but I need to figure out how to put it on youtube. That will come soon!

Jordyn is 10 months

I can't believe that miss Jordyn has been with us for 10 months now. She is so funny and does some really silly things. To start with, she has two bottom teeth and one canine tooth that looks like a snaggle tooth on top. I do her hair in little pony tails and she always pulls them out. She puts anything in her mouth that she finds on the ground. Today she even got shots and I found her band aid in her mouth. Jordyn loves to play peek-a-boo right now. She is always putting blankets over her head. If I have a laundry basket out, which often is the case, she empties it out and plays peek-a-boo with the clothes on the floor.

She crawls everywhere right now. She is super fast. She will take off and we find her in all sorts of places, even behind the couch.


I love when she looks at us through her eyelashes! And the most favorite thing that she does right now, is this weird sound she makes. The sound is like...have you seen the movie Beast Master? The guy calls out to his bird in a high pitched sort of way. Anyways, Jordyn makes that sound whenever she has found something. It is always something that she is not suppose to have or get into like the remote, or climbing the stairs, or daddy's drink. If we hear that sound, we immediately stop what we are doing to find Jordyn.

But Jordyn is very naughty too! She likes to spit out her food so that is sprays all over. She climbs out of her chair all the time which freaks me out because one of these days she might actually fall. Whenever we are on the computer, she tries to push the buttons. She got really sick and stopped using her binki (it is also a good thing too but I am trying to find things that she does that are naughty!) And she still does not sleep through the night.

But we love her!

We built this!

For the past year, Jared has been hassling me to get a projector. He has pleaded, begged, bargained, and in the end he got his wish. He wanted to put the projector downstairs against our brick wall. To me, having it against the brick wall was fine because we have stinkin' baseboard heater along that wall so we can't put couches or anything else up against it. But then, the ideas began to percolate.

I have been wanting to buy bookshelves for a while because all my pictures and books are still shut away in boxes or stacked out of sight. I started staring at this blank canvas and came up with a idea to do built in bookshelves. I drew it all out, complete with books and decorative items on the shelves and decided that it had to be done. The shelves would compliment the projector screen amazingly! I showed Jared the picture of my plan and yes, I even had dimensions on it as well, and without any pleading, begging, or bargaining, he said yes to my bookshelves. (Hey, when yo got it, you got it!)

So we began our building journey...with chalk drawings.

We went to Home Depot to get all our materials. Then we started our wondrous journey.
We measured, marked, remeasured, marked, taped, cut, and assembled.

We searched the Internet for directions on how to properly build a book shelf and learned that you obviously need to secure the top and bottom of the shelf but for more stability, the center shelf should be secured as well.

The bookshelves are done...for now. We are going to put molding around them to make them look built-in later. I love the brick behind it because it gives it dimension and texture.

We thought this would take at least one whole weekend, but we did it in one day. I love it!

Weird Pajama Pants

We sent the kids upstairs to get their jammies on and Eli came down like this. He was holding up his pants and said,"they wouldn't stay up." Upon closer examination, we discovered that they were not pajama pants but a pajama shirt.He thought the hole was weird!

We told him that those weren't pants but he was positive they were indeed pajama bottoms.

After we took the "pants" off, and showed him that it was actually a shirt, he was almost stunned.

Toothless

Mackenzie's top two teeth have been loose for a month now and they haven't come out. Jared tested them last night and was all of a sudden very determined to get them out. Poor Kenzie...! After a lot of wiggling, squirming, and screaming, the tooth came out. She has a lisp! The Tooth Fairy promptly came. I thought the Tooth Fairy kind of jipt Kenzie. She went through a lot to have that tooth pulled and so I think she should have gotten more than just 2 dollars but the Tooth Fairy's male counter part said that 2 dollars was a good amount. Cheap scate! The very next day, as we were getting into the car, she bumped her mouth on the seat and the other tooth popped right out. No pain and very little blood. Completely opposite of the other tooth.

The Cat formerly known as Lola

We have a cat. If you ask what his name is Eli will quickly reply, "Caballero Don Diego Heath." He even rolls the R. We went to have "Lola" spayed and she came out a he! (I honestly don't know how we missed that! I think what it was is that my sister, Sharon, told us he was a she and we just didn't question it. ) So we had an appointment made with the vet to get her spayed and were surpised to find out that our kitty was a boy.

Jared was, for some reason, happier that we had a boy cat verses a girl cat. So, we set off on finding a new name for our kitty. Jared really wanted a Spanish name for the cat so that he could yell at it in Spanish, just for the fun of it.

He came up with a list, while at school with his friend, Mike Corbett, who also speaks Spanish. (Yeah, he sure did work hard that day!)
