My Super Duper Craft Weekend with My Sisters!

Last week I left for Colorado Springs, Colorado to spend an amazing weekend with my sisters while my dear husband stayed home and watched after our kids. It was so much fun! I wasn't going to go but at the last second, Jared persuaded me to go as an anniversary gift. Many of my sisters like to sew and I am not really into that, though I can sew if I need to, or really feel the urge to, so again, I didn't feel like it would be very fun. My sister, Shaina, said to come and paint, which is something I do enjoy doing. So I did. But we had so much more planned than just sewing. We were going to take a hike at a place called Garden of the Gods, but we had a huge snow storm while we were there and were confined to the house. We did, however, manage to get out of the house on Saturday night and catch the MOST AMAZING FLICK OF THE YEAR! I suggest that everyone far and wide go see the movie, 17 again! IT IS A MASTERPIECE! (roll my eyes!) No, it was fun to be with my sisters and we all cheered when Zack Efron came on the screen. Hey, it's fun to act young, even when you realize you are getting old!

The saddest part of the weekend is that we weren't able to have everyone there. Our littlest sister, Nancy, wasn't able to come and we missed her. Plus, we missed having Autumn, our sister-in-law there as well! At least we will get to see everyone in June for our family reunion. Family is the best institution Heavenly Father created!!!

Here are the paintings I did for my sister Shaina. She wanted the trees done in Fall colors. I didn't like how they turned out but upon looking at them now, I actually like them a lot!

My sister, Sharon, taught us how to make these cute little booties for babies. I gave these to my dearest friend, Emily. She just had a baby girl and so I was really excited to give them to her. They are so much easier to make than I thought! I also made a little boy's pair for my dear friend, Annie.

My sis-in-law, Melissa, taught us all how to make these chunky watch bracelets and I think they turned out super cute! They are cool because you can switch out the bracelet part to match your outfits. I am not a jewelry person, but I really like these watches. I am becoming more girly...which I'm okay with. I don't know what Jared thinks of it though! Will he like the prissy side of me?

All of us with our newly made watches. We wore them to church. It seems like we should have a chant...Oh, actually we could just say "Forever Weber!"

We all slept out in the front room together. My sisters like to tease me, probably because I can totally take a joke. They made me a bed out of all the couch cushions so that they wouldn't have to share a bed with me, due to my hogging abilities and slight smelliness. It looked like a hot dog bun, with me as the hot dog. Oh well, I was warm and comfortable, so that is all that matters. (You can see my sister, Kim, was trying to goose me as the picture was taken but she did it too soon so it was never caught on camera. )

It was the best weekend! It went by way too fast! I hope that we can do this every couple of years. My brother's had a brothers weekend in February so I think our family does a good job of staying close, which is as it should be!

P.S. I rented my very first car and with the help of my sister, Kim, and her flirting, we had no problems getting what we wanted from Victor! Just to rub it in, my car was so much better than Kim's in appearance, but her car definitely had more power under the hood!

It's Party Time!!

This has/is party week! My two friends shown in the bottom picture just had their babies. One of them had her little girl two weeks ago, and the other just had a little boy this morning. We've been friends since college and luckily all our husbands were room mates as well (and childhood buddies) and we all get along like peanut butter and jelly! We took a girls night out on Monday to enjoy each other's company. We went to Mrs. Powells. It is a delicious Cinnamon roll store and enjoyed huge Cinnamon's rolls that were bigger that our hands, they completely covered them up. Then we walked around the mall, just browsing, and Ross. My friend Annie is setting up her living room. They just bought a house and so we had fun looking through Ross' decorations to see what would fit. Emily and I learned that our taste in clothes is very different! I'm slowly breaking her down. We didn't buy anything, to our husband's surprise, so they are all for us going out again together. We are all too cheap to buy things so we are a perfect combination!

Tomorrow, we are having a party for Sharon, my little sister, two below me. She is graduating from college with a degree in Home and Family Economics....or something like that. In other words, she can be a home-EC teacher, and she would do amazing in it! She is very talented and I am so proud of her for finishing. It is hard to go to school, be married, and have a little baby, and she did it! So a lot of our family is coming to celebrate with her and I am totally stoked!

Lastly, in a week, my sisters are getting together for a girls craft weekend. We are all going to my sister, Shaina's, house and partying. We fly out to Denver area in a week and we will sew, bead, paint, hike, watch late night movies, and chat to our hearts content! It's gonna be great!!!

The kids are Wiggin' out!

We have our play clothes for the kids and there are a bunch of different kinds of wigs in them. When the cousins come to play we have to get all decked out!

The Flask and April Fools

I wrote this post last month but only just now went through my posts and realized I handn't posted this one yet...so enjoy!

Last summer, Jared and I were walking through Walmart, when we came upon a most interesting find, a flask! We thought it was so funny and would make a great buy because there are so many things we could do with it. Immediately we devised plans for this wonderful little prop, ranging from Christmas gag gifts to PCP meeting tension reliever. At the time, Jared was the Elder's Quorum Pres and so he would have church meetings with other leaders and talk about important and sometimes very serious matters and so in order to relieve some tension, Jared and I thought it would be funny for him to pull out the flask from his suite pocket and take a swig when they called on him. (Don't worry mom, we never did it, we only jest about it within the confines of our home!) For Christmas we gave one to Chad and Des to put in their church bag or purse for when they need to relieve some tension with their callings. It is a good stocking stuffer, so just think about the possibilities you could do with one of your own.



Anyways, so Jared brought the flask to work with him yesterday and planted it in one of the teachers desks. He pulled it out in front of the class and asked what Mrs. Barker was doing with it. He scolded the class for not reporting it to the principal and said that she needed help and you shouldn't enable her by keeping it a secret. She denied it, like everyone did who got caught with it in their desks. He had fun planting it places and then conveniently finding it later. The people's reactions were priceless!

It cracks me up seeing my kids jokingly drinking from the flask! Eli looks a little drunk!
