Homemade Ornaments

After having our family Christmas tree up we realized that it was looking a little bare. We need more family ornaments and so we decided that for Family Home Evening we would make some more decorations. It we do two or three extra homemade decorations every year, then when our kids are married, they should be able to have enough to get their own trees started with their family's someday.

Last year I got this wooden puzzle game that you had to figure out how to put back together in a square box...needless to say once it was taken apart, we never ever were able to get it back together.  About two weeks ago I was cleaning and almost threw the bag of puzzle pieces away when I thought, "Hey, these have a cool shape to then, I might be able to use them for something."
 Then inspiration hit me.
I could stagger the pieces and make little snowflake ornaments. Actually, Kenzie called them snowflakes, I originally called them stars.

I thought that you could take these pieces (you can find these puzzles at the dollar store) and spray paint them white or silver or whatever color and they would look really cool.

I got glitter glue and let each of the kids decorate their own.

Then you just drill a small hole through it and add some string or a hook and you have a unique looking ornament.
Make some yourself, they really are pretty cool!
