Camping at Kelley's Island: Our Hiking Adventures

At our campground, we had the river running along a good portion of the area, so it meant we could do a lot of hiking and exploring.
There was a path that split off into a couple of trails and so we hiked along them until we found this cool little spot near the river. There were tree trunks that the kids loved climbing and a small water fall for us to enjoy.
We perched the kids up on the log and tried to fit us all into the picture.
On one of our hikes, we went by this tree that had arched itself all the way over. I thought it was pretty and made Jared and the kids pose under it. I couldn't back up any more so I didn't get the full effect, but still, it is a nice picture.
Along one of the trails, there was this pretty rock mountain. I took the kids up to the top where we could see some more of the forest and a small marshy area, I didn't get a picture up there because I was more concerned about holding onto the kid's hands so they didn't fall to their doom. However, at the bottom of the rock hill, we managed to get this picture. I just love the reds and oranges in the rock!
Jared climbed up after me to see the view. I was worried because he had Jordyn strapped to him and so I thought his balance might be off a little. They made it safely down though!
Another picture in the area with the fallen trees.

A picture with the river in the background. The river was flowing so fast that it was actually pretty scary to go near it. I was sure that if someone fell in, the current would sweep them away before we had a chance to go in after them. But, at a safe distance, it sure was a pretty view!
And after each adventure, we would head back to our cozy camp and cool down and relax.
We had so much fun on our camping trip. Poor Alexis was sick pretty much the whole time, but she had moments where she would feel good and that is when we would go on our hikes. Then, we would get home and she would sleep for the next 2 hours. She was a trooper!

What a fun place to hike and explore. I love the arch tree and the river. It looks really swollen. I'm glad you were careful. I love the pic of Kenzie with her hands on her hips. It shows a lot of confidence. Cute! Jared on the rock with Jordyn looks dangerous, but he is sure-footed, so I'm sure she was safe. I'm glad you had a play pen to contain her around the fire, etc. What a great trip!!
