A couple of days ago, when the weather was nice, we were able to have a fire outside in our fire pit. Jared thought it would be a good idea to do tin foil dinners for dinner..obviously. So we cut up some potatoes and crushed up some hamburger and added some corn.
Alexis and Mackenzie are playing with their hamburger.
Eli wasn't so sure he wanted to touch it at first but then gave in to handling the meat.
As you can see, Mack is a little grossed out.
Then we wrapped them all up tight and brought them out to the coals.
Yes, our fire pit is an old coal bbq that we took the legs off and stuck in the ground. It is a little ghetto but it works well enough for us. Someday we will line it with brick and build it up a bit, but for now we are content with our red neckedness.
I had Lex take a picture with me in it just to prove I was there too.
Once the dinners were done, we brought them if to eat.
Jared opened up each one but told the kids to be careful because there could be hot steam that could burn them. Eli didn't seem too worried though.
The meal turned out great and was pretty easy to make. The kids loved it being so "hands on" and clean up was way easier, no pots and pans to wash.

No mishaps this time, huh? It looks like the kids had a great time, as grossed out as they may have been....but they enjoyed their dinner. What a great idea! And by the way, what's wrong with a cool BBQ pit? That's what we used for years. Does that mean we were .... no...couldn't be.
I am guessing Jared started the fire?
I love foil dinners, it acctually reminds me of living on the ranch. Maybe becuase of the fire pit? Good times for sure!
We made hobo dinners recently also and my girls loved them. One of our favorite dinners. By the way, you look absolutely stunning. Your such a beautiful and vibrant woman.
