Spud Days

Shelley celebrates Spud Day every year and it is such a fun day. It is very family oriented and very entertaining! They do a parade, which I consider to be the best of all parades because it last about only an hour and you get loaded with candy. "Short n Sweet" is what I call it!
Jared is like a celebrity here, all the kids from school are always calling out his name and throwing candy at him. After the parade, we walk across the street to the park where they set up all sorts of food stands, and activities. The whole theme is about potatoes. They have a tug-a-war pit that is filled with mashed potatoes, potatoe sack races, spud runs, tater tot trots for the little kids, and potatoe picking up contests. It is a great day and we get home in time for naps too! Oh, and did I mention that they give out free baked potatoes with sour cream and cheese. They are some of the best baked potatoes I have ever eaten!

Here is Alexis getting ready for the potatoe pick up contest.

Mackenzie's is all ready to go

Eli is all set to go....being coached by daddy!

About to start the race

Eli trying to get all these potatoes in the basket.

The girl behind him won the race. They each get a quarter for playing and the winner gets a dollar.

Kenzie did well

Lexie tried the scoop method but it just slowed her down more. The race ended and Lexie cried because she didn't get to finish. She perked back up though once she got her quarter.
