Alexis hates enchiladas! Whenever we have it, we have a battle over trying to get her to eat it! It is weird because she likes sour cream, corn tortillas, cream of chicken soup, and cheese but in this combination of ingredients she completely breaks down. She sees it and starts crying right away. We try to entice her into eating it with all sorts of goodies. We give her super small portions and tell her that if she eats her food, she can can ice cream, cookies, candy, anything. Normally what happens is this...
She takes a bite and lets it sit in her mouth until her saliva has broken some of it down and then she starts gagging...Gross!
(Beware, some of the pictures are gross!)
Most of you also know that I got to coach the seventh grade volley ball team this year. I faked my way through it pretty well, and I am very confident in my abilities come next year if they need me again. It was a great season. We lost a lot in the beginning and then came out with a bunch of wins in the end which show the girls improved and I improved in my coaching too. Plus, I feel like every girl got pretty much the equal amount of playing time, no joke, I paired my weaker players with my strong players and that worked out pretty well! The best were those days when I would have a few girls missing and so I couldn't sub in for my really good players. In volleyball, you can only sub in one girl for the other and back again, I can't switch partners for the whole game and so I would purposefully make it so that my superstars were paired with the missing girls that game.
We were slaughtering the Rigby team and so the other coach called a time out, so I am telling my girls to push hard, talk to each other, get it to the setter, and finish strong!
Coaching from the sidelines.
I had a fun time and it gave me a little break from the domestic life. Jared said he had the hardest job of both of us. He would get home from school and I would leave for practice. He would have to help the girls with their school work, take care of Jordyn, and try to get dinner ready by the time I got home. (Dinner hardly ever was ready or even started for that matter, but he was still great!) He told me he gained a greater appreciation for what I do as a stay at home mom. He said I have a hard job. I, on the other hand, got a look into the coaching world. Having to deal with parents, drama with the girls, the highs of winning, and the lows of losing helps me understand that it is not all fun and games for him and that stress is definitely affecting him! Would I do it again...yes...but for pay this time, which they will have to do for anyone, so why not me?

What? You didn't get paid? Sounds like they got a steal of a deal. Definitely negotiate some payment next time!
Enchiladas. Yum.
Its good you let her have a sandwhich. I think if they have such a reaction and they'd rather have a plain pb&J sandwhich, then why not let them have that and preserve the peace of dinner time! Good parenting :)

Yeah, get paid. You coached the team yourself, it deserves pay.
They needed someone quick and for free cause they didn't factor in that money in their budget cause they didn't know that this new league of ours had a 7th grade team. I did it for free with the hopes of getting my name in the system. Next year, they will pay to have a coach.
When I was little, from about Alexis' age until I was 10 or 11, we would have Mr. Spuds (potatoes with topped with marinara/meat sauce, cheese, and sour cream) every Sunday--and I COULDN'T eat them. I loved everything that went on them, but somehow the combination always gave me the worst stomach ache. (I grew out of the stomach problems eventually, and now I like them.) I think our rule was something like, "You can eat what's for dinner or you can eat nothing at all," so I had a lot of hungry Sundays. I think it's nice of you to let Alexis have a sandwich. It's not like she's normally a picky eater.
I love everything that is in potato salad.....and the very thought of it makes me sick to my stomach. I think letting her eat the sandwich is a good idea.
Odd! Nobody else in that family is a picky eater. Lol.
