Yesterday for dinner, the girls were helping daddy make mommy a nice birthday dinner. We had breaded chiken, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and gravy. It was a good meal. The girls loved shucking the corn husks. They would peel off one green leaf at a time and when they finally got to the corn, they would yell out, "I see the corn!" It was really cute.
When my family lived on the ranch, in Arizona, my mom would have us little kids shuck the corn. I remember standing around the trash can with my siblings, pulling off the little hairs that were on the corn, getting it ready to boil.
After dinner, Jared and I dropped the kids off at Dusty and Megann's house (thanks so much for babysitting guys) and headed to Shelley to catch Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the community theatre. It was so fun to go.. Sorry that the picture is so dark.
Jared took me out last Friday for a birthday date too. I wanted it to be a surprise what we did, so he came up with the plan. We went out to dinner at Sizzler and then he said, "I thought we would go to Freeman Park and play frisbee golf, then go to the Shelley football game, and then catch a movie after that." (I thought it was really sweet that he tried. I am a sporty person, but I was hoping for something a little bit more romantic.) However, we decided on the Football game and it was a lot of fun to just spend time with Jaref. I love my husband so much, he tries so hard to make me feel special. He is the best!

PS: Thank you everyone for calling. I got a few phone calls and notes from people I didn't expect to hear from. It really made my day even more special! Love you all!

The picture of the kids shucking corn is way cute. :)
It sounds like you had a couple of fun dates. I'm so glad that Jared is taking care of you, other wise I might have to beat him up. :) How was the play?
If you have a chance to go to the play, I would go! They extended their play dates. Now you can see it a week from this Thursday, Friday and Saturday in honor of spud days.
Seriously, you should go! Tickets are 7 dollars, and it starts at 7:30, it is at the Virginia theatre in Shelley, Go! It is sooooo funny!
just so everyone knows, I was the first to call....
Glad you had a good time. Dinner sounds yummy.
so courtney, i really really truly promise i did not forget your birthday. all day long i was like "i need to call courtney." i even had reminders pop up on my computer and phone. but around 5 pm my alzheimers kicks in and i forget everything that i was supposed to do "later" so i am a bad bad friend and sister-in-law! anyway, i'm glad Jared planned a semi-romantic date for you :) i hope you had a really great day and know how much our family loves and appreciates you! i do have a freakin sweet present for you so i'll bring it over, probably on friday after i "donate" plasma haha. see you then!
I was shucking corn last night myself, so I copied the girls. "I see the corn!"
Alexis' face in that corn picture is hilarious. Totally her. OH! I forgot to tell you that she fell off the bed while I was babysitting....no harm done.
