Eli Helps Plant Potato Crops

Our Neighbor that lives across the street from us is a farmer. You'll see him riding his tractors, four wheelers, motorcycles, and trucks all around the place planting wheat and potatoes in the surrounding fields. After the planting is done, you'll see him constantly moving water lines to make sure his crop gets the necessary water it needs. This year, Eli has become his little buddy. I think Gary gets bored in the tractors by himself and so if he sees my kids watching out the windows of our house, mainly Eli cause the girls are at school, he'll offer the a ride. Eli loves going and learning all about farming. I think Gary is training him to be a farm hand.
Eli spent a few hours in the truck with Gary and when he came back, he explained all about how the potatoes get planted. "First they fall down the tubes and then a shovel thing covers them with dirt!"
I think working on a farm is a hard job and I am glad that Eli gets to learn some of the ways we get our food. Eli loves hanging out with Gary, who is also our Bishop. Gary is always nice and ends up going and getting ice cream while they are working. It is cute!

I was reading your blog, and James who is sitting next to me, reminded me that they're in a tractor. Caleb walked by and said he didn't know that Eli plants potatoes. My boy also knew it was a tractor. Just so you know the big green thing is a tractor (this is important knowledge in our family). :) That's so cool about getting to plant. I'm glad you're not farmers, but to learn how to do it is awesome. Eli will have to teach Caleb. :)
