Names and Mastering Crawling

A funny story to tell: I was in the car with the kids on our way to the girl's basketball practice. Mackenzie says to me that on her birthday she want to be called Mack from then on. I agree because I have always wanted to call her Mack. Then Alexis pipes up and says that she would like to change her name on her birthday too. She would like to be called Felicia because that name is beautiful and hers is not! I tell her that she can change her name but it has to have something to do with the name that she already has. She thinks about this for a while and I chime in that Alex is a cute name. She says that she likes that because there is another kid in her class who's name is Alex. This whole time I am celebrating in my head because I always wanted to call my girls Mack and Alex.
Then Eli says that he needs a new name. The girls say he needs to be called Phillip. I tell them that Phillip is not even in his name and maybe something like EJ for Eli Jared. They all laughed at that and still decided on Phillip. So now my kids are Mack, Alex, Phillip, and Misses (Jordyn). Mackenzie signs all her papers Mack now. Jordyn always has her tongue out. So much world to taste with one little tongue!
(Actually, it is quite a long tongue if you ask me! )
My little Jordyn has been on the verge of crawling for a month now. She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth. She lifts up her hands and moves them forward, but, her knees stay in place or she lifts up her knees all together and stands in a V formation. I am not in any way discouraging this behavior but I am not helping her along either. She seems to be doing everything so fast for a baby. Maybe I just don't remember what a baby does at certain ages but she seems to be starting things really fast. She is even getting two teeth on her bottom bottom gums. That seems fast to me too! Mack was thirteen months before her first tooth popped up, Alex was nine months, and Phillip was 10 months. Jordyn is only 7 months old, hmmmm. All my kids are growing up.

On her knees

And then point!

that point is pretty impressive!!! It made me laugh. I think that it is funny that "alex" wanted to be called filicia. that is so funny. How is Basketball going???

Yes, I like the point too. She looks so much bigger than when I saw her a few months ago. Crazy.

I like the nick names. We are still working on Georgie transitioning, but some days, I really don't care if she's George for the rest of her life.

There was a time I wanted to be called Shane. I think I was in high school!

Mack probably just wanted to change her name so she has less work in school. Mack is faster, easier, and less hassle then Mackenzie!!!

Of all the random names...I always said that if I ever had a daughter I would name her Felicia (after my grandma Phyllis). But I wouldn't object if you started calling Alexis that!

Oh, and I have another friend named Mackenzie who goes by Maxi. Probably the same reason as Mackenzie...that whole name is just too darned long to write :-)!

Now if we just put "The Secret World of . . ." in front of Alex and Mack, we've got a strange Freudian slip. Did you consider Nickelodeon when you decided on those names?
