On Friday my sis-in-law, Megann, begged me to go to the Twilight party with her. She was already going with my sister Sharon but really wanted me to go too, so I agreed and also dragged in Jemayla, another sis-in-law. Sharon managed to get her friend Brittany to come as well. With all 5 of us going, we made a girls night out of it. We went to dinner at TGI Fridays and then headed over to Barnes and Nobles for the party.I had a feeling that it would be kind of a dress up party and so we went to scope it out. Sure enough, there were girls left and right dressed up in their most formal of outfits. Hair was pinned and curled and nails were all done. Well, we weren't about to go home and put on our formals, but we couldn't Not dress up so....Being the quick thinking moms that we are, we drove to the dollar store and picked up some t-shirts, scissors, sharpies, hair spray and dark eye shadow to put together our outfits. Though we are not really Jacob supporters, that was the easiest of outfits to put together. We cut slashes through our shirts like we were werewolves and wrote "Team Jacob" on the fronts. We also put little saying from the book on the back.

Here we are making our outfits in the parking lot. We got a few funny looks and then a couple of older women walked by, we smiled and said, we aren't crazy, and they said, oh don't worry, school hasn't started yet. They must have thought we were teenagers.
Here is our group acting like we are "phasing" into werewolves. Scary isn't it?

Some phrases we came up with for our shirts were..."I'm in the mood to Imprint,
Don't make me angry,
Dear Bella, pick me,
You missed me eat a whole cow,
I like motorcycles,
and Can you feel the heat?"

Just regular, every day moms, doing everyday regular things. WE look so innocent.
We showed up at Barnes and Nobles and immediately got attention. Crazy teenage girls who are in love with Edward Cullen gave us looks that would have killed us. Good thing there was security men around, or I think they might have tried to brawl with us. (Not that they would have won, us moms would have totally taken them down.) We stood in line to get our passes to buy the book and then went inside. While waiting in line, the girls behind us said...(in a very snobby way) "Team Jocob? I didn't know there were teams, thats a little obsessive if you ask me." (This is coming from a girl in a prom dress with her hair completely done up. I laughed! )
When we went inside, we roamed around for a bit and got our nails painted and would have made corsages but then Channel 6 news asked us if we would be willing to get interviewed for the 10:00 news. We are now famous and so the next time you are at my house, I will show you the clip on our DVR. We are the coolest Moms. At first the reporter thought we were 17 year old girls and when he found out that we were all moms on a girls night out, they loved us even more. It was a surprise to them because we were a bit giggly but we composed ourselves and gave an excellent interview that would have made our moms proud.
So, though I am not quite sure I am a twilight fan, I still had fun. Husbands out there, you may never know what your wife will do when she goes on a girls night out. I left looking normal and came home wearing a torn up shirt, my hair all teased and tree branched hanging from my hair. Yes, it was quite the experience. I am glad Megann pulled my into it!

And I will continue to beg....Dusty will attest to that! Thanks for coming, and convincing me to dress up. I had fun. When and if we do something like this again, you better come with me. :)
Go to Sharon's blog and you can see our clip on the news. And yes, Sharon was right, I was the most rediculous before hand. I was giggly and nearly jumped the reporter, totally unintentionally, but still I looked like a huge idiot!
But we composed ourselves in time to give a good interview.
Thanks for coming Meg, we'll do other crazy stuff, no worries!
I can totally imagine how crazy you were, corks. This just makes me laugh. Glad you had a good time away from the kids for an evening.
That sounds like waaay more fun than mine. I went to Borders here with a group of girls I hardly know...I use the term "girls" very lightly, they were a lot older than me...it was just embarrasing. There were a lot of Team Jacob and Team Edwards at ours. And a lot of goths...which I found very interesting. Yours sounds like much more fun!!
hahaha, I had to read your entry to Zeke even though he never read the series. The whole story was so typical of Courtney. Weirdly, if made me miss Provo and the time we were weekened roomies. I want to see the clip of the news. Do you have a link at all?
you guys are awesome, i can't wait to see the news clip! i'm sad i missed it, it sounds like you had a great time!
I'm really jealous that you got all dressed up without me. Man, I guess I should have married into the Heath family instead of marrying my good lookin' husband. I'm really proud of you for dressing up!
