Cross Country

This year was an interesting year in which my girls decided to try out for cross country.  It started with the girls getting a taste odd running when we had our Weber family reunion 5k fun run.  The girls did a really good job and so they decided to try out for the school team.  You can start cross country in 5th grade.

They started running in the mornings before the season started with the neighbors, Brigham and Talea Murdock. After a week of this,  mackenzie said she didn't want to do it anymore... I told her she had to do it.  She ended up loving it! She and Alexis were amazing!  Lexie is so competitive that she would stop running and memoir had to push herself to Iberville the mental challenges that come with running miles upon miles.  It was so fun to watch them work hard! Jared and I are so proud of the girls and hope they will do it next season!

Lexie's school projects

Alexis had a lot of great opportunities this year to grow.  Her teacher,  Mrs Teresa Call,  really likes to encourage her students to push themselves.

In class,  they did a wax museum and Alexis chose to do her report on Helen Keller.  She had to write a two page essay,  create a poster,  and give an oral report to her class.  You can just imagine lexie playing a sophisticated woman who is blind and deaf.  Her teacher said that she wished she had recorded it because she acted the party out so well.  "She should be in theater!" exclaimed Mrs Call.  It was fun going to her school and walking through the "wax" museum and seeing all the doesn't people in their costumes.

Alexis also made it into the spelling bee.  She worked so hard to be one of the three from her class.  She was one of 19 students in the fourth grade competition.  She got out on the word.  She came in 8th overall.  I was so proud of her efforts.  She is such a hard working girl.
