Jared and I brought the kids with us to mutual tonight because we had combined young men and young womens and the Deacons were in charge ( 12-13 year old boys) who focused their whole activity around this months theme of following the Lord's commandments.
The idea was to make ice cream in a bag. If you follow the directions the right way, you'll get a tasty treat in the end, but if you miss an ingredient your ice cream won't turn out as well.
Ingredients (plan of happiness)
small zip lock bag (your body)
1/2 cup half and half (For the strength of youth)
1tbs sugar (reading your scriptures)
1tsp vanilla (attending church)
Zip up bag and place in large zip lock bag. (the world)
Add: 6tbs salt (repentance)
Ice ( trials )
Shake for 5 minutes (enduring to the end)
Most peoples ice creams turned out really good but a few people didn't seal their small bags sit very well and worldly influences got in and their ice cream was super salty. Others didn't want to shake their bags because it got to coldand their ice cream was still soupy.
It was a great object lesson!! You should use it for a family home evening or mutual activity of your own, but whatever the reason, the ice cream is really good at the end of the day!!
