Jared's mom and dad finally got their mission call. They turned their papers in about a week or two before conference and were "patiently" waiting to hear back. ( I really look up to them for their patience...Jerry said that if they didn't get their papers this week that they would call up the mission office and tell them where they could stuff their papers; they would just move to South America and volunteer in some Temple visiting center.Yep my friends, that is true patience and humility! Dad cracks me up!) They leave August 16 for the Welfare and Employment Center in Montevideo, Uruguay and will be gone for 18 months. Uruguay is where Jerry served 35 years ago, and so it is special that he now gets to take Betty, his eternal companion back with him for another round of service.
We had the rest of the family on the phone who couldn't make it to their letter opening. Right now they were talking to Heidi, Jared's oldest sibling who lives in Spokane, and to Jared, who was at a track meet three hours away.
I had my mission papers filled out and was ready to go, but Jared gave me another option. I chose Jared, and I am so grateful that I did! I love him very much and could not imagine a better life. However, he did promise me that when we are wrinkled and grey, we will go on a mission together. I look forward to serving some day. Until then, we will enjoy the stages that we are in right now!

Oooh, that's cool! I didn't know they were wanting to go. Neat that they get to go back to where Jerry served his mission!
Oh man!! That's sooo so awesome!
That is so exciting!!!! I can't wait until Dall and I can serve.
This is awesome news!!! Congrats to them! :)
That was a great commentary on our mission letter opening and on your future mission. Dad is not always the most patient person. Uh...USUALLY not the most patient person. Uh....REALLY not a very patient person, if I was being honest. All's well that ends well.
