I love my husband, he helps me cook, clean, do laundry, and take care of the kids. Sometimes, when he cooks, he doesn't realize the mess he leaves behind. Today he came home from work and decided that he really wanted cookies. Now, I am not baker normally. I will eat cookies right out of the oven but if they are a day old, I am not a fan. Jared, however, could eat and eat and eat cookies all day long. Well, he could eat anything all day long, he really does have a hollow leg! Anyways, so when he gets the hunger bug for cookies, he makes them himself.
Here is a small mess he made. I didn't take a picture of the kitchen afterwards but I should have because every
ingredient was still out on the counters. Plus, pans and bowls and measuring cups and spoons were spread across the counters as well. Oh well, he and the kids had a good time making the Mint Chocolate chip cookies.

He decided to make a
quadruple batch so that he could freeze some dough for later.

The kids love to sit on the counters and help us stir or pour in the ingredients.

Eli kept walking around say "
ookie,
ookie, and pointing at the oven."

That is a huge amount of dough! And Jared using his muscles to stir it all!! U need a mixer, like a kitchen aid....
One very valuable lesson that I learned from dad. Always clean up as u go along. I still think of that whenever I make something.
Cute that Jared is making the cookies! Actually, Derek is the better cookie maker in our house also, at least the chocolate chip cookies. He likes to brag about that. Remember when we would make cookies, or a cake or something every Sunday after church? Good times...
That messy kitchen thing must run in the family. I always tell myself, "Well, at least he can fend for himself and not die." I'm glad I read this post because I've been grumbling all morning about the mess I had to pick up...not to mention 2 pairs of scissors left on the floor by absent-minded Dad.
Well it's only fair that if HE makes the cookies, YOU should have to clean up the huge mess! (I'm saying this sarcastically :-p )
I'm all for the other spouse cleaning up if you are the one doing the cooking...Actually, jared does a pretty good job of helping me with the dishes or even dinner if I need help. Most times, I just want him to keep the kids occupied so I can quickly cook dinner up.
I hate to cook cookies. I'd much rather freeze the balls and have them ready for when we want them. I think a "quadruple" batch sounds just like the kind of thing I would do too. Sorry for the mess, but you won't have to make cookies for a LONG time!
I'm not a cookie maker either, so I just might have to come over and steal some of your dough! I'm glad that kids got to help dad cook, but I would rather clean up without help from the peanut crew. That's if I must clean up.
That's great that he tries. Dallon does the same thing with messes. I guess it's still always good to encourage and thank them for trying.
I am going to defend myself as well as I can. First of all, Courtney knew what I was when I offered to make the mess, I mean the cookies. Second of all, I was too tired to clean it up because our KitchenAid is named Jared and he just mixed a quadruple batch of cookies. And Third, Courtney was not complaining when she was eating my delicious creations.
