The entrance...Be careful or you might be next on the lunch menu.
This turtle is 100 years old and weighs 800 pounds. The said that most turtles sold at the pet store are these types of turtles and people don't know what they are getting themselves into. Can you just imagine, "Hester, our turtle, has been in our family for three generations."
While walking on the boardwalk, this is the view barely 3 feet below us. We were given hot dogs to feed them. When we threw the tasty morsals of hot dog in, the alligators would either sit there like, why are you even trying, or they would lung for it and fight with eachother.
"Quick! While I distract them, you go on the other side and snag 'em."
This was a baby alligator. They won't let you hold it on your own, but you can pretty much handle most of it. The top was really hard and spikey, while the bottom was very soft and smooth. They had a show called Alligator Jumperoo. They have really huge alligators ranging from 8-12 feet that they would dangle whole chickens (they were ones like at the store) over them and the alligators would jump up 3-4 feet and grab them. It was pretty cool.
There was one alligator in his own cage called, The King, who plauged Olando. It kept catching and eating peoples dogs. The hunter who caught him, donated him to Gatorland. It was huge!! I couldn't put my arms fully around the fullest part of his body and he was at least 15 feet long.

Oh man that looks so cool!!! Nice quote on Romancing the Stone!
I was wondering if anyone would get my quote, I kept saying that every time I saw alligators.
WOW! The little gater is too cute...but to think what they grow into!
I've seen gaters in person too-- they're actually pretty scary.
I knew immediately about the "snappers". Loved it.
By the way, I think you just wanted to hold the guys hand.
Haha, I kept going back to the first picture. You are wearing a shirt that says I love nerds. And you are standing right next to Jared. Poor guy.
As for the gators, they are fun. Their texture of their skin is so different.
I knew someone would comment on me holding that guys hand! Mags is the only one that commented on my shirt, at least she didn't point out the wet pits!
Hi Courtney! I hope you don't mind that I wandered into your blog. By way of explanation, I am on bedrest with twins on the way and I am bored out of my mind. I've been using the computer more than usual to keep my mind occupied lately. Just one of a very few activities I'm allowed. Anyhow, looks like you are having a really fun trip!
Love, Danae

Ah, I had forgotten about that movie- havent' seen it in awhile! Great picturs Courtney, looks like alot of fun! You look good!
I love all of your Florida pics, it looks like you had an awesome time! That gator park looks really cool too (although I would not have gotten near the snakes you mentioned). I'm so glad you guys were able to do that and have a little "alone" time!
