High Kite Flying Adventure

This past Monday evening we went to the park to fly kites. It was really good kite flying conditions so we packed up the kids and set off.

Mackenzie helping Alexis, the wind was strong and Alexis was running as she held the kite because it pulled her so hard.

Hold on tight!
This is my dear husband who was so excited to go fly kites. He brought this special kite we got from my sister Kim. It was an airplane. We got the one kite working and flying...but this one was another story. We were there for an 1 1/2 hours and this is how he started and this is how he finished. Eventually the girls got bored of flying kites and went to the play equipment, still...he sat and sat and sat, trying to figure out how it went together.

By the time it got so cold and the girls and I were ready to go home, not to mention poor Eli who sat in that car seat the whole time. Jared finally got it put together. But alas, it was not to be. It was just to heavy. He couldn't get it up. He tried and tried but to no avail. He was sad. Perceptively, Alexis asked, " Hey dad, are su sad?" "Yes!" he replied.

There is, however, a happy ending. We went home and had a nice cup of mint"chocolate hot" as my kids say (we learned that from Kim, my sister.) And it was delicious!

So funny to see ya'll in coats. It's about a hundred degrees here all the time now, not to mention the humidity.
Too bad for Jared about the kite.

Oooh, that looks like alot of fun. about a month ago we tried to fly some kites, but the wind would come in puffs, and then die down so we couldn't get it to fly. Your girls look so cute out there!
